Slumber Sloth educates about relaxation, Bigfoot self esteem and Yeti Mindfulness. They also have several well chosen sleepytime affirmation cards and Rhymes which assist parents and caregivers turn their valuable time into fun and story telling time. This helps the kids develop sets of social skills that will help them in their entire life. And they are able to do this with snuggle ups which kids love. Kelly Oriard, who works as a professional counselor for the grade k-8, together with Callie Christensen, who is a special education teacher are behind the creation of Slumberkins. The two had been very close, with their friendship starting many years ago at high school. They turned their creativity to make cute blankets for their kids. Their end product is a cuddliest creature that is seldom found out there.
Their dedication and educational backgrounds put them at a better position to help children with problem solving, self advocacy and communication skills. In their effort to provide help to their young learners, they created Slumberkin in the process and this is considered to be representing a unique and personalized social skill. The clever Sleepytime-Rhymes tell the story about each Slumberkin mastered the skill and the kind of exercises or affirmations will assist kids learn it as well.
At the moment, Kelly and Callie work fulltime with Slumberkins, but they stay fully connected to professionals and educators who have devoted their time to working with children and are helping with the provision of grants that can be used towards funding Social-Emotional Learning programs.
They are firm and forthright in their belief that kids should be taught to understand and learn how better to manage their emotions, and also set and achieve their goals. They also believe in the fact that kids should be helped understand the value of maintaining positive relationships with friends and family
