Janna Badger & Nicki Radzley was both successful career persons in industrial design and advertising. However, because they are both parents, they faced minor problems that were common to everyday parents and one of these problems entails what should be done when the pacifier of the baby falls to the ground. Even after getting it washed, most parents would still be concerned about whether the nipple is adequately clean to get back to the mouth of the child.
The idea of a nipple which would magically disappear into the inside of a protective casing when it drops from the child’s mouth and rolls into the floor was hatched when Janna Badger was an employee of a design firm in San Francisco.
She shared the idea with her employer who provided the support the needed to start working on the prototype. The employer also helped in working with getting the idea patented. The same employer also helped in introducing her to Nicki Radzely. On that particular time, Janna had moved to Singapore and despite being far away, with more than 10 hours in time difference everyday, together with Nicki co-founded Janna & Nicki co-founded Doddle & Co. Their main connection was via the Skype and they had a strong belief that the unique product that they were creating would eventually ease the problems that are caused by time difference and distance.
Janna & Nicki started a Kickstarter campaign way back in 2015 and has a target of raising $20,000. By the end of the campaign, 642 backers have pledged a total of $22,708. The patent they asked for was published on 11th December 2015 and in the months that would follow, the design, christened Pop would get amazing media mentions.
The Pop- which is a single piece design that is mad of high quality and medical grade silicon that meets the stringent EU and US standards. It’s generally free of lead, latex and phthalates and you can get it in several bright colors. When the pacifier nipple gets released, it is able to pop back into a silicone cloud and this helps protect it from getting into contact with the surface that it gets into contact with.
However, the name Doodle was selected because it meant a task that is easily accomplished. While it took hard work and dedication to complete the development work of this incredible product, the commitment of Janna and Nicki to make the lives of parents simpler and happier cannot be underestimated.
They are at the moment working hard on other product ideas and seeking information from parents who want to share ideas and experiences, while also getting support for the kind of challenges that they may have.
